According to the psychologists, any sort of emotional or mental abuse can leave long-term effects on the emotional and mental health. Most of the people who suffer this problem experienced also this trauma during childhood, which causes even more severe consequences.

One of the reasons why you may experience anxiety can be the narcissistic treatment when the other person convinces you that everything is your fault, no matter the reality.

According to Mayo Clinic, this is a list of the most common anxiety disorders:

–           Agoraphobia

This is a type of an anxiety disorder that is manifested by an irrational fear of open and public places.

–           Anxiety caused by a medical condition

This can be an intense anxiety or physically-induced panic attack.

–           Generalized anxiety disorder

This is overwhelming and persistent anxiety about everyday activities or events.

–           Panic disorders

This type of disorder include cycles of panic disorders, such as panic attacks.

–           Selective mutism

Because of the abused children, they cannot speak in certain situations, but they are able to speak normally in relaxed settings

–           Separation anxiety disorder

This disorder is also common in children in school or similar settings. The usual reason why it happens is the separation from parents or others who have parental roles in their life.

–           Social anxiety disorder

The people who suffer from this disorder is related to the avoidance of social situations, because of the fear, embarrassment, anxiety, and other negative self-reflected emotions.

–           Specific phobias

They occur as a result of fears or anxieties linked to certain objects or situations.

–           Substance-induced anxiety disorder

The characteristics of this order are linked to the panic attacks or anxiety as a result of the use of specific substances. It can be also a result of withdrawal from those substances.

–           Other specified anxiety disorders and unspecified anxiety disorder

There are types of anxiety or phobias which are equally disruptive but do not fit in any of the categories above.

This is a proven fact that the children with at least one parent narcissistic and emotionally abusive are especially prone to anxiety. The people of this group are actually good manipulators and they are high-functioning. When caught in bad behavior, they can skillfully to escape from it and turn the entire situation in their favor.

The narcissists target empathetic and compassionate people, and those who can believe their abusers are actually nice people for long.

Muhammad Gadit from the Memorial University of Newfoundland according to the study on this issue found that the verbal abuse can cause significant psychological problems in later years. In addition, it causes the brain damage, such as anxiety, anger-hostility, depression, and dissociation.

According to Doctor Douglas Fields, the hostile environment is socially unhealthy, and there the development of the brain is affected and often damaged.

There are caused abnormal physical changes in the brain of children, in case of early childhood physical abuse, sexual abuse, or even witnessing domestic violence, which trigger lasting effects that develop psychological disorders.

For all of you that have been abused in any way in your childhood, you should be aware this is NOT your fault.
